About the Event

For the Second year The Auckland Opera Studio will be presenting its winter series of Concerts at the wonderfully Inspirational Sculptureum. 2019 offers 3 concerts, bringing to Matakana the best of New Zealand’s young Operatic Vocal talent at this very moment carving out their prospective careers in the UK, Europe and the US. Mostly back for a short Summer (Winter) break they have managed to grace us with their presence between Family and other commitments.

Eliza is a Northland girl hailing from Whangarei. After winning several awards at the 2017Australian IFAC Handa Competition (including a full scholarship to the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester) and coming Runner up in the 2018 NZ Lexus Song Quest, Eliza has continued to go from strength to strength. As one of the fresh young faces on the Soprano spectrum she is quickly carving out a significant presence as a rising star in the UK. In 2018 she graduated with a Masters with distinction from the Royal Northern college Manchester and this past year has been the Young Artist in Residence for Opera North. From the beginning of September Eliza will take up an offer to join the prestigious National Opera Studio in London until June 2020.

William is a young Wellington based, baritone with a star over his head. In 2018 Will won the Wellington Aria Competition, and in 2019 the North Shore Beacroft Aria Competition and was runner up in the Napier Aria Competition.

Extremely musical and extremely talented, Will is at present an Emerging Artist with NZ Opera.
